Not Your Average Hunting Show

Written By: Zach Miller

I’ve found that there tends to be a disconnect in the hunting world, Far too often we see the finished product, the endless birds, the flashy shots and the endless sponsors being mentioned mid episode. We never see the shivering in the truck bed, the fixing of a blind mid hunt, or the doing of dishes to say thank you from dinner…

This fall, prepare to embark on a unique journey that will take you through the heart of the East Coast, exploring the raw and rugged side of duck hunting. This video series, devoid of any commercial sponsorship and flashy production, is a genuine portrayal of the life of an average hunter, living out of a pickup truck, training dogs, and meeting real people along the way and showing you, the viewer, what duck hunting is at its core.

The series aims to capture the essence of duck hunting, a sport that is often romanticized in mainstream media but is, in reality, a gritty and challenging pursuit. The host, aka the guy writing this, is a passionate hunter himself, will be traveling throughout the East Coast, hunting ducks, training dogs, and living out of his pickup truck. This is not a glamorous journey, but it is an authentic one, and it is this authenticity that the series seeks to capture. The entire trip from prep all the way down to the fuel is funded by myself. I say this not brag but to relate, there is no backing here, this is all from my pocket and trust me when I tell you, it is not a deep one. The average hunter isn’t able to have the best and brightest, we can’t be decked out in the top of the line gear. There will be hardships and bumps in the road on this journey and that is the point, it’s unaltered…

The series will showcase the host's encounters with various people he meets along the way, each with their own unique stories and perspectives on hunting. We will sit down with these individuals and hear their side. These interactions will provide viewers with a deeper understanding of the hunting community and the bonds that are formed within it. One of the key aspects of the series will be the training of hunting dogs. Viewers will get a firsthand look at the process, from the initial stages of training to the moment when the dog is ready to join the hunt. This is a rarely seen side of hunting, and it promises to be both educational and entertaining.

The series will also focus on the host's experiences living out of his pickup truck. This is a testament to the dedication and passion that many hunters have for their sport. It's not always comfortable or convenient, but it's a part of the hunting lifestyle that the host embraces wholeheartedly. With hotels and AirBnB prices getting way out of hand, we will completely skip that and live out of the truck that I have built. For the next 3 months, it will be home for my gundog Fury and myself. You will see life being lived from the 6ft bed of my pickup and the memories made will be ones that I take with me in life.

As stated prior, I’ll be funding and filming the entire project out of pocket, which further emphasizes the authenticity of the series. There are no sponsors, no film crews, no product placements, and no commercial interests influencing the content. This is a raw and unfiltered look at duck hunting, and it's a perspective that many viewers will (hopefully) find refreshing. One of the main goals of the series is to relate to the average hunter who can't always see the finished product of hunting. Hunting is often portrayed as a series of successful hunts, but the reality is that it involves a lot of hard work, patience, and in many cases, disappointment. By showcasing the entire process, the series aims to provide a more realistic portrayal of hunting.

In conclusion, this video series promises to be a unique and authentic exploration of duck hunting on the East Coast. It's a journey that will take viewers from the marshes and wetlands to the heart of the hunting community, showcasing the passion, dedication, and hard work that goes into this sport. So, get ready to embark on a rugged journey this fall, and experience the true essence of duck hunting
